Office of Student Grievance Resolution
Who We Are and What We Do
The Office of Student Grievance Resolution (OSGR) addresses formal student complaints, also known as grievances. The office receives formal complaints from students, attorneys and other entities. Student Grievance Resolution Coordinators are individuals designated to formally investigate grievances at the University of the Rockies and to coordinate the University's compliance efforts relating to formal complaints concerning students.
Before pursuing the formal complaint process, every reasonable effort should be made to constructively resolve issues with faculty, staff, or administrators. Whenever possible, the problem or complaint should first be discussed with the individual involved in the complaint. If satisfactory resolution is not reached after discussion with the individual, the student should contact the individual’s direct supervisor to attempt to resolve the complaint. If these efforts are unsuccessful, the formal complaint process may be initiated. The University does not require a student to contact the person involved or that person's supervisor if doing so is impracticable.
For more information on the informal process, please contact us at 866.621.0124, ext. 1455, or email@example.com. You may also complete an Informal Student Dispute Resolution Submission Form. Our fax number is 877.817.6733.
The formal grievance procedure may be found in the Student Rights and Responsibilities section of the University of the Rockies Academic Catalog. All formal complaints must be submitted in writing to Grievance.Resolution@rockies.edu. To file a grievance, follow the instructions outlined in the catalog. The following is a summary of the process. However, students should refer to the current year's catalog and follow the process described there.
How to Submit a Formal Complaint
- The initiator must complete the Formal Grievance Submission Form and send the completed, signed form by email to Grievance.Resolution@rockies.edu or by fax to 877.286.7713. The term "initiator" refers to a prospective applicant, applicant, student, former student, or person who has an outstanding debt to the University.
- To obtain the form, please contact Student Grievance Resolution at 866.621.0124, ext. 1878, or email Grievance.Resolution@rockies.edu.
- Initiators must submit the completed form within thirty (30) calendar days of the incident prompting the complaint or from the date of knowledge of the incident prompting the complaint. This means the complaint must be filed on or before thirty (30) calendar days from when the initiator knew, or should have known, of the alleged action(s).
