Who participates in In-Residence Weekend Workshops?
All students enrolled in a doctorate degree program in the School of Social, Human, and Educational Development (SoSHED) will be required to attend three In-Residence Weekend Workshops during the course of their program. Please work with your Student Advisor or Registrar Advising Specialist to determine when you have reached the point in your curriculum to enroll for the In-Residence Weekend Workshops.

What is the attendance policy for In-Residence Weekend Workshops?
Students who enroll in the In-Residence Workshops are expected to attend the full sixteen hours of instructional time. Failure to attend 90% or greater (at least fourteen hours) of instructional time during the In-Residence Workshop will result in the student being withdrawn from the workshop and required to repeat it.

What is the cost of attending In-Residence Workshops?
The fee for an In-Residence Workshop is $500. There are three non-credit In-Residence Workshops required as a part of doctoral programs in the School of Social, Human, and Educational Development with a fourth optional workshop available.

Total In-Residence Workshop fees required for the program are $1,500. This fee is fully refundable if the workshop is unattended or unscheduled before the scheduled date. After this time, the fee becomes non-refundable.

When will weekend In-Residence Workshops be scheduled during my program?
In-Residence 1 will be scheduled following the completion of 2-6 courses.
In-Residence 2 will be scheduled following the completion of 7-12 courses.
In-Residence 3 will be scheduled following the completion of 13+ courses.
In-Residence 4 is optional with a focus on dissertation support/training.

What is the appeal policy and process if I can't attend the In-Residence Workshops when it is scheduled?

Who should I contact if I am unable to travel the weekend of my In-Residence Workshop(s)?
Please be in contact with your Student Advisor or Registrar Advising Specialist as soon as you are certain you will not be able to attend your In-Residence Workshop.

What airport should I use for arrival and departure?
The most convenient airport to schedule for travel for in-residence weekends is the Denver International Airport (DEN). Please provide yourself with ample time for travel to University of the Rockies and plan your flights accordingly to meet the 90% attendance requirement.

Who should I contact if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
Please contact our Student Services Support Specialist at 719.442.0505, ext. 6290 if you experience any delays or cancellations in your flight schedule.

Do you have a list of hotels that are in the area? Local restaurants?
Prior to your In-Residence Workshop, the Student Services Support Specialist will email you information on hotels and restaurants.

Will there be a shuttle from the airport to my hotel?
Please check with your hotel for information on a courtesy shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the Denver Instructional Site. University of the Rockies will not provide shuttle service. You may also choose to rent a car at your own expense to have transportation while attending the in-residence weekend workshop(s).

If I drive my own car, or a rental car, do I need a parking pass while I'm on site in Denver?
A parking map and instructions will be emailed to you in your information packet. Parking cost is not included or covered by University of the Rockies.

What time should I arrive on Friday?
Please be at University of the Rockies in Denver, CO (1201 16th Street, Suite 200) no later than noon on the Friday of your scheduled In-Residence Workshop so you can check in and get any questions answered. The workshop begins at 1:00 pm.

How do I check in and receive my weekend workshop materials?
Once you begin your In-Residence Workshop, please contact your instructor regarding the required materials for the in-residence session.

What if I need accommodation for a disability?
Please email access@rockies.edu or visit the Office of Access and Wellness page at least one month in advance of your visit for information and/or to request accommodation.

What is proper dress attire while I am attending In-Residence Workshops?
Please dress in "business casual" attire while attending In-Residence Workshops at University of the Rockies.

What is my schedule?
You will need to be at University of the Rockies in Denver, CO on the following days and times:

Friday
1:00 pm - 8:00 pm - workshop
Saturday
9:00 am - 5:00 pm - workshop
Sunday
9:00 am - 12:00 pm - workshop

How often do we receive breaks throughout the day?
You can plan on having a break approximately every 90 minutes to two hours, plus meal breaks for dinner on Friday, and for lunch and dinner on Saturday.

Are any meals provided?
You will be responsible for all meals while attending In-Residence Workshops.
