Attendance Policy
Attendance
You are expected to attend all classes in which you are enrolled. If you encounter a compelling reason to be absent from a class, you should discuss that absence with the professor as soon as possible. You are responsible for any missed work due to an absence. Faculty members will keep accurate records of student attendance and will report attendance to the administration at the end of each day. You may not attend classes for which you are not officially enrolled. If you are not listed on the class roster and attend a class, the professor will refer you to the Academic Coordinator for proper enrollment. Whether or not you are allowed to remain in the class for that session is up to the faculty member's discretion.
Holidays
When a holiday occurs during a term, the missed class will be scheduled at the end of the term. Term end dates have been adjusted to include an extra Monday or Tuesday during terms in which there are School-observed holidays.
Continuous Enrollment
Upon acceptance into University of the Rockies’ doctoral program, you are expected to be enrolled full-time (at least 5 semester hours) during each term until you have completed the program. However, you may petition to take fewer than 5 semester hours.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
In order to remain enrolled in good standing in the PsyD or MA Programs, you are required to meet the following standards for satisfactory academic progress:
- maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or above
- demonstrate proficiency in the Core Competencies
- remain on track to complete the program within seven years
Probation
Should you fail to maintain minimum standards in academics and/or conduct you may be de-enrolled, or you may be placed on probation by decision of the Academic Advisement Committee for poor academic performance or by the Vice President/COO in conduct cases.
De-enrollment
You will be de-enrolled if you:
- fail to maintain satisfactory academic progress
- demonstrate deficiencies in any area related to preparation to enter the profession
- stop attending class without going through the withdrawal process
You may also be de-enrolled if you fail to meet your financial obligations to the School. If you are de-enrolled for any reason, you may not be readmitted to University of the Rockies until a year has passed from the time of your de-enrollment. Your application for readmission must be submitted according to the normal admissions schedule for the term in which you desire to be readmitted. The application for readmission involves submitting a complete packet of admissions materials to the School for review and decision by the Admissions Committee. Applications for readmission compete for a seat in the upcoming class with all other applicants for admission.
Leaves of Absence
You are expected to take a full academic load each term until you have finished the program. Should you experience some extraordinary personal situation that would require a request for a leave of absence from the program, you must discuss the matter with your faculty advisor who in turn will consult with the Registrar and the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean. The Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean will handle each request for leave of absence on an individual basis. In any case, you should keep in mind that you must complete the PsyD Program within seven years.
Withdrawals
Should you decide to withdraw from the program, you must notify the School in writing and must complete a "Withdrawal Form" available in the office of the Academic Coordinator. You should consult with your academic advisor, the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean, and the President before making a decision to withdraw from the program. It is important to go through the withdrawal process to preclude being involuntarily de-enrolled (see De-enrollment).
Financial Hold
If you fail to meet your financial obligations to the School or financial aid institutions you will be subject to a financial hold on your records and academic activities. Until your financial obligations are satisfied, you will not receive transcripts or grade reports, and may be prohibited from enrolling in classes or internships, advancing to candidacy, or taking comprehensive exams. If you are having difficulty meeting your financial obligations to University of the Rockies, or if you anticipate such difficulty, discuss your situation with the Vice President/COO immediately.
Credits
University of the Rockies awards semester credit hours according to the following guidelines:
- For classroom instructional courses, one semester credit hour is defined as a minimum of 12 contact hours with an instructor.
- One contact hour contains a combination of 50 minutes of instructional activities and a ten minute break time. Instructors are encouraged to adjust the lengths of instructional periods to provide the optimum learning environment for the students.
- All activities associated with the Project/Dissertation are awarded three credit hours.
- No credits are awarded for activities associated with Advancement to Candidacy or the Comprehensive Examination.
Transfer
University of the Rockies may accept up to 36 semester hours of relevant graduate-level transfer credit from accredited institutions when that coursework matches UoR's curriculum offerings. Only courses with a grade of "B" or above will be considered for transfer credit. University of the Rockies reserves the right to determine the relevancy of the transfer course content based on institutional catalog course descriptions, course syllabi, and/or other satisfactory documentation.
