1. What is the Rockies Mobile app for iPhone?
The Rockies Mobile app for iPhone allows you to use your Smartphone to read and respond to discussions, access grades and assignments, get instructor guidance, check degree progress, and access your financial account ledger.

2. Where can I find the Rockies Mobile app for iPhone?
This app is free to students (and faculty) enrolled in online courses at University of the Rockies. To download, please visit itunes.apple.com. If you are not enrolled at the University of the Rockies, please visit www.rockies.edu to learn more about our online degree programs.

3. What features and resources do I have access to in the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone?

  • Submit assignments
  • View or submit exams and quizzes
  • View specific course materials
  • Access to certain learning resources

5. What device(s) does the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone support?
All iPhone devices running iOS 7.0+.

6. What are the minimum technology requirements for the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone?
The Rockies Mobile app for iPhone will work on any iPhone or Apple device running iOS 7.0+. It requires 5.12MB of space.

7. How do I sign in to the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone?
From your device, launch the application by selecting the “Rockies Mobile” icon. Enter your username and password and touch the “Sign In” button. Your User ID and password are the same as your Student Portal login information.

8. What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, touch on the “Forgot Password?” link on the login screen. To reset your password, please complete all the steps on the reset password page. A valid password must have both upper and lowercase characters, include numbers, be at least eight characters long, and be no longer than 28 characters. Your password cannot contain your Student ID.

9. What will I see once I’ve entered the app?
On the Home Page, you will see:

  1. the “Menu” button ( )
  2. the “Calendar” button ( )
  3.  your Current Course(s)
  4.  your Resources

10. How do I access content not found on the Home Page?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). This will open a top menu with options to: return to the Home Page, Calendar, access your current course(s), view news and alerts, contact your instructors and advisors, view past and future courses, visit the Help Center and sign out of the app (note: You may need to scroll to see all options).

11 . How do I view my course(s)?
There are two ways to view current course information and materials:

  • Enter the classroom by touching the course name on the Home Page. Here you will see the current week’s discussion and written assignments. Slide left or right to view material from past weeks. Slide all the way past Week 1 to access the Rockies Café and Ask Your Instructor discussion boards.

  • Select the Menu button ( ) in the upper left corner of the Home Page. Touch your current course title to enter the classroom. Slide left or right to view material from past weeks. Slide all the way past Week 1 to access the Rockies Café and Ask Your Instructor discussion boards.

To access past and future course information and materials:

Select the Menu button ( ) in the upper left corner of the Home Page. Touch “Past Courses” or “Future Courses” to see final grades and course information. To view the “Course Description” simply tap the course title.

12. How do I Contact my Advisors or Instructor?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch “Contact” to access your advisors and instructors.  To contact an instructor or advisor by email, touch the envelope icon. To contact by phone, touch the phone number below the individuals name and title. Note: You may need to scroll down to view full list of contact options.

13. What are News and Alerts and how do I view them?
News and Alerts are University-related news and Student Portal alerts delivered conveniently to your Smartphone device. You can view News and Alerts by touching the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ), and selecting the “News and Alerts” link. Select either “Alerts” or “News” at the top of the screen. To view more content, scroll up and down. To see a full view of the message, touch the news or alert you would like to view.    

14. How do I view my Student Profile and what does it contain?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch your name at the top of the menu to open your Student Profile. Here you can view your degree program, expected graduation date, GPA, as well as required, completed, and scheduled credits. You can also view and create your digital Student ID card and view your Financial Account Information.

15. How do I access my digital Student ID Card?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch your name at the top of the menu to open your Student Profile. At the bottom of your Student Profile, touch “Student ID Card” to display your digital ID card. Note: To add a photo to your ID, touch the default image (  ). Here you may choose an existing photo by selecting “From Album”, take and upload a new photo by selecting “Take Pic” or remove an uploaded image by selecting “Clear Pic.”  You can use your digital Student ID for discounts at participating retailers.

16. How do I access my Financial Account information?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch your name at the top of the menu to open your Student Profile. At the bottom of your Student Profile, touch “Account Info” to display. Selecting this button allows you to view a summary of your accounts activities for the last 30 days.

17. How do I set my Signature for Discussion Posts?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch your name at the top of the menu to open your Student Profile. At the bottom of your Student Profile, touch “Set Signature” to display. Selecting this button allows you to set your personal signature which will appear in the Discussion Boards. Note: Faculty will be able to add their title, as well as name and email to their signature.

18. How do I view my Calendar?

There are two ways to view your Calendar:

  • Select the “Calendar” button ( ) in the upper right corner of the Home Page. Your Calendar for the current month will appear and today’s date will be highlighted in red. An orange flag ( ) in the upper right hand corner indicates that you have an assignment due on that particular day. You may access an assignment by clicking on the assignment link below your Calendar.

  • Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ), and select “Calendar”. Your Calendar for the current month will appear and today’s date will be highlighted in red. An orange flag ( ) in the upper right hand corner indicates that you have an assignment due on that particular day. You may access an assignment by clicking on the assignment link below your Calendar.

19. How do I open and post to a Discussion Board?
From your Home Page, select the course in which you want to add a discussion post.  Once you’ve entered the classroom, all of the current week’s assignments and discussion boards will appear (you may need to scroll down to view all of the week’s discussion boards). To view assignments and discussions from past weeks, as well as the Rockies Café and Ask Your Instructor discussion board, slide to the left or right. The icon ( ) attached to each discussion board indicates the number of responses to that specific discussion thread. Enter and view the discussion topic and replies by locating and selecting the discussion name.

To view the full discussion prompt, click “More”(1). To respond to the prompt, touch “Reply”(2). Once you are ready to reply select “Subject”(3) to enter your reply subject. Enter your reply by touching the box entitled “Post Reply Message”(4). To refer back to the prompt while writing, select “Show” underneath the Topic title (see screenshot). Preview you post for errors before submitting by selecting the “Preview” button in the upper right. From the preview screen you can submit your post to the Discussion board.

Note: To easily identify and distinguish your discussion posts from your classmates’, your post(s) will always appear with your name in orange, while your classmates’ will always appear as grey.

20. How do I reply to a classmate’s discussion post?
From your Home Page, select the course in which you want to reply to a classmate’s discussion post. Enter and view the discussion topic and replies by locating and selecting the discussion name. To view a classmate’s response, select the classmate’s discussion post (see screenshot). Discussion posts you submit will appear with your name in orange, while classmates’ post will appear in grey. You can easily view the number of replies to a given post by looking under the Discussion Post’s title. The   icon informs you of how many new or unread replies are associated with each discussion post.

After selecting a classmate’s discussion post, you can respond directly by selecting the Reply icon ( ). The subject is pre-populated as (RE:…) with the discussion post title. To change, simply tap and delete or edit, adding your new title. To enter your reply, touch “Post Reply Message.” To refer back to your classmate’s post while writing, select “Show” underneath the Topic title. Preview your reply for errors before submitting by selecting the “Preview” button in the upper right. From the preview screen you can submit your reply. You may also respond directly to a classmate’s post by simply selecting the reply button (  ) next to his or her post. New or unread responses will appear with an orange dot ( ) next to the title. Tap the title to remove and mark as “read.”

21. How do I view my Gradebook and instructor feedback?
There are two ways to view your current Gradebook and instructor feedback:

  • After entering the classroom from the Home Page, select the Sub-Menu button in the upper left corner ( ). From the options, choose “Gradebook.” To view instructor feedback, simply touch the Assignment’s name.

  • Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch the name of your current course. From the Sub-Menu choose “Gradebook.” To view instructor feedback, simply touch the Assignment’s name.

22. How do I view my Course Description?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch the name of your current course. From the Sub-Menu choose “Course Description.”    

23. How do I view my Weekly Overview?
On your Home Page, select your course. Weekly Overview is located under the week’s discussion topics. Select Weekly Overview and it will open the full description of your current week.

24. How do I view my written assignments?
On your Home Page, select your course. You will see your discussions and assignment for that week. Select the assignment and it will expand all the details of the assignment. Note: You are not able to submit your assignment through the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone. Please submit assignments through your online classroom.

25. How do I view Instructor Guidance?
On your Home Page, select your course. Instructor Guidance is located under the week’s discussion topics. Select Instructor Guidance and it will open the full description of your current week’s instructor Guidance.

26. How do I view my Course Announcements?
Select the app Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch the name of your current course. From the Sub-Menu choose “Announcements.”

27. As a Faculty member, how do I add Announcements?
Select the app Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch the name of your current course. From the Sub-Menu choose “Announcements” and select the notepad icon. Enter an Announcement subject and message. To post touch “Submit” and confirm your announcement by selecting “Send.”

28. How do I access the Rockies Café and Ask Your Instructor discussion boards?
The Rockies Café and Ask Your Instructor discussion boards are located in a section called “Course Questions.” There are two ways to access “Course Questions”:

  • Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch the name of your current course. From the Sub-Menu choose “Course Questions.” To enter Rockies Café or the Ask Your Instructor discussion board, simply touch the appropriate title.

  • Select your current class on the Home Page. You will enter at your current week. Slide through your previous weeks to find “Course Questions” located before Week 1. To enter Rockies Café or the Ask Your Instructor discussion board, simply touch the appropriate title.

 

29. How do I get information about how to use the app or get support?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch “Help Center” to directly call technical support, read FAQs or to provide feedback.

30. How do I sign out?
Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the Home Page ( ). Touch “Sign Out.” When prompted, select “Yes” to securely sign out of the Rockies Mobile App for iPhone.

31. What do I do if I don’t see any of these features?
In order to access the most recent version of the Rockies Mobile app for iPhone, please visit itunes.app.com and select “Update.” Note: If “Update” is not available, sign out of the app, uninstall it from your device and visit itunes.app.com to reinstall.
