Spirituality and Psychological Health Concentration

Overview:

The Spirituality and Psychological Health concentration within the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), Clinical Specialization degree program at University of the Rockies is designed to help you develop competence in working with religious and spiritual issues in psychotherapy. The coursework builds upon existing psychological and psychotherapy knowledge and skills to provide you with a foundation of the theoretical and ethical foundations of the unique issues and challenges that emerge when working with religious and spiritual issues with clients. You will also gain exposure to a variety of world religions including important clinical issues for working with these clients. Finally, you will learn important clinical skills for working with clients in psychotherapy and psychological assessment.

Concentration Requirements (9 credits):

  • PSY 8000 Introduction to Spirituality and Psychological Health (3 credits)

and 6 credits chosen from:

  • PSY 8010 Religious/Spiritual Systems in Psychotherapy (3 credits)
  • PSY 8020 Spirituality & Development (3 credits)
  • PSY 8030 Diversity Issues in Spirituality & Psychological Health (3 credits)
  • PSY 8040 The Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (3 credits)
