Health Psychology Concentration
Overview:
The Health Psychology concentration within the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), Clinical Specialization degree program at University of the Rockies is designed to prepare you, as a psychologist, to function more effectively in health care settings and to develop a much deeper understanding of the interrelationships between physical and emotional health. You may focus your studies within the concentration in general health psychology or in pain management.
Concentration Requirements (9 credits):
Health Psychology
- PSY 8820 Theories of Health Psychology (3 credits)
and six credits chosen from:
- PSY 8821 Major Illnesseses: Health Psychology's Role (3 credits)
- PSY 8822 Treatment Approaches in Health Psychology (3 credits)
- PSY 8823 Medical Ethics in Health Psychology (3 credits)
(Courses in biological bases of behavior and psychopharmacology are a part of the PsyD degree core.)
Pain Management
- PSY 8820 Theories of Health Psychology (3 credits)
and six credits chosen from:
- PSY 8830 Pain Management: History and Legal Issues
- PSY 8831 Pain Management: Specialty Concerns
- PSY 8832 Pain Management: Team Management of Common Pain Syndromes
- PSY 8833 Pain Management: Treatment Aspects
